Recreating one of the many races that punctuated the legend’s early life as a driver for the Italian car marque Alfa Romeo, the production perfectly captures the spirit of the era, with vintage costumes, classic Italian cars and authentic period props specially created for the film.

“The film has all the elements that make for a great story – history, nostalgia, humour, a picturesque setting and an Italian hero who takes home the prize,” said Andy Keeling, Park Manager of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Keeling continued, “Coppa di Sicilia takes visitors back to a period in Enzo Ferrari’s past that isn’t really common knowledge. It’s not until Enzo Ferrari had considerable success as a driver racing that he was inspired to actually go ahead and design his own Ferrari race car.” Admirers of classic automobiles can take a closer look at the Alfa Romeo produced and used in the making of ‘Coppa di Sicilia’ at the Ferrari Past and Present boutique at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Shot on the rural roads and rocky mountain trails of Sicily, period film buffs will be impressed by the level of attention to detail expressed on screen. “The idea was to give viewers a chance to go back in time and we wanted to make it all seem very real, with a touch of humour of course,” said Antonio Ghini, Creative Director, Ferrari.

The period props stay true to the era in every way possible – the cars used in most of the in the racing scenes are all authentic, the costumes were sourced to reflect the prevailing fashions, even the newspapers the spectators are reading in the film have been reprinted with similar content to those published at the time.

The film was produced exclusively for screening at Cinema Maranello, the plush cinema at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, constructed in the style of a grand old Italian picture house. The nostalgic content of the film inspired the look and feel of the cinema which evokes the lush nature of old theatres.

‘Coppa di Sicilia’ was one of only two films awarded a Gold Nail at the 2011 Art Directors Club Creativity Competition Competition held in Frankfurt earlier this year, and the only one to take home a gold in its competiting category of Short Film/ Special format for moving images.

Visitors to the world’s only Ferrari-branded theme park can catch all the action onscreen at Cinema Maranello, one of the popular attractions at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, where high-definition screenings of ‘Coppa di Sicilia’ run throughout the Park’s opening hours on the UAE’s largest HD cinema screen.

Buckle Up For a Festive Family Day Out This Eid at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates(18 July 2011): Fearless explorers from across the region are diving into the realm of fantasy – racing across 4-D dreamscapes in hot pursuit of a Ferrari – on one of the most popular rides at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Speed of Magic is a state-of-the-art attraction offering guests a chance to go where no Ferrari has gone before, chasing the mischievous cartoon character Nello, who has just stolen the keys to a Ferrari.

Guests are whisked away on a moving simulator that is perfectly synchronized with every dash, dip, swerve and leap of the Ferrari onscreen, accompanied by blasts of hot air and moisture and flashes of light that heighten the sense that the rider is truly taking part in the chase.

“You can leave the real world behind with a totally immersive experience on board Speed of Magic,” said Andy Keeling, Park Manager of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. “This attraction really brings out the child in you and can be shared with every member of the family. It’s the ultimate combination of thrills and technology.”

Wayne Meadows, Director of Maintenance, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, added: “The ride is based on 4-D technology. So you have 3-D vision, but you also have movement. Essentially it’s a simulator that allows the rider to move along all three axes while also moving forward along the ride track, which creates the feeling of being self-propelled. To me it’s one of the most technologically complex rides we have.”

Strap on the 3-D glasses and fly along crumbling cliffs, into the jungle, through icy caves and to the bottom of the ocean – with real-life extremes in temperature, moisture, light and movement whereby your senses are teased in an interactive journey through a thrilling fantasy world.

But will you ever catch up with Nello and win back the keys to the Ferrari? Guess that’s something you will have to find out for yourself the next time you visit Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Speed of Magic is one of 20 exciting rides and attractions at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi that offer guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the passion and history of one of the world’s most revered brands.
Jerez de la Frontera, 10 February – With punctuality that would shame a Swiss watch, the engines on the cars of eleven Formula 1 teams – only HRT are absent – fired up at nine this morning in the garages at the Jerez circuit, in the south of Spain, to start the second of four test sessions prior to the start of the World Championship.

Felipe Massa carried out an installation lap in the single-seater at 9.04. While the technical package on the car is identical to that used in Valencia last week, there are a few novelties on the livery front. The first is in the shape of the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi logo, which as from today appears on both sides of the nose of the car, to publicise the theme park dedicated to the marque, which opened last November at Yas Marina. It is an important nod to the fact the Scuderia wants to reaffirm its links with the Park, whose popularity with the public has exceeded all expectations.

The second new livery item is one we share with all the other teams here in Jerez and is for the benefit of Rubert Kubica. “Szybkiego powrotu do zdrowia Robert,” it says in Polish on a sticker that sits on the front wing of the single-seater today: come back soon Robert! is the message and it’s one that comes from everyone at Ferrari and all Formula 1 fans.

Ferrari Red Valentine’s Day

Other options include Mamma Rossella, Il Podio, Rosticceria Modena, Pit Stop and Espresso Rosso.

“Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is a great place for those looking for an alternative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” said Andy Keeling, Park Manager, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. “Instead of the traditional roses and chocolates for your loved one, treat them to a thrilling experience at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and enjoy the true Ferrari spirit and passion.”

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is open on Monday, February 14th, from 12 to 10 PM.

UK Celebrity Chef James Martin visits Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

“We are proud to present this special menu to the gastronomes of the UAE,” said Massimo Falsini, Executive Chef at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. “Every course on the menu has been carefully selected to represent an element of our Italian heritage.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, December 1, 2010: HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, last night officially inaugurated Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world’s first Ferrari theme park, on Yas Island.

Pressing a button in the shape of the iconic Ferrari World Abu Dhabi roof structure, HH Sheikh Mohammed paid tribute to the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “who is keen on turning the UAE into a global magnet of sports and recreational tourism through a diverse portfolio of projects that will have substantial impact on the national economy and social development.”

“The ambitious development projects in progress in Abu Dhabi will help position the Emirate prominently on the global map as a sought after tourist destination. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is a quality addition to our tourism industry which is one of the pillars of our national economy,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister; Sheikh Dr HH Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council; HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Finance Department; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council; Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority; Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi, Secretary General of the Executive Council; and senior government officials.

Guests including Mr Franco Frattini, Italian Foreign Minister; Giorgio Starace, Italian Ambassador to the UAE; Mr Luca di Montezemolo, Chairman of Ferrari; and Ferrari Formula 1 team drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were treated to a spectacular show to celebrate the achievement of Aldar and Ferrari in delivering the world’s largest indoor theme park.

The show – titled Power meets Elegance – was inspired by the history of Abu Dhabi and the story of Ferrari. Seen through the eyes of a young boy, the vision-like story weaves these two strands together to the fulfilment of the dream of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. The two cultures are blended together through an incredible mix of live action, acrobatics, advanced film projection techniques and original music.

The show starts with an incredible aerial dance of the traditional UAE pearl divers surrounded by a 3D marine world projection. The atmosphere then escalates into a magnificent dance of flying dancers and Ferrari engine pistons arriving to the first climax when Puccini's "un bel di" is sung by an opera singer.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched the grand finale which explodes with an incredible series of gigantic projections, flying pearl divers, live orchestra and a unique and amazing firework display that enhances to the rhythm of the music the whole Ferrari World Abu Dhabi building.

Following the spectacular show, HH Sheikh Mohammed toured the park, intermingling with the guests and congratulating the developers for what he termed as an outstanding achievement.

A record number of more than 140 Ferraris travelled across the United Arab Emirates to join the event guided to Yas Island by Abu Dhabi Police. Ferrari Middle East & Africa in association with Al Tayer Motors, the official Ferrari importer for the UAE, and the Emirates’ Ferrari Owners' Club organized the event as a tribute to the grand opening of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has already captured the imagination of thousands of visitors from around the globe with a range of unique and thrilling attractions including Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster, and Speed of Magic, the region’s first four dimensional fantasy ride.

Ahmed Al Sayegh, Chairman of Aldar Properties:

“We are indeed privileged by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s presence at inauguration of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, an achievement that coincides with our celebration of the UAE National Day. It also gives us great pleasure to welcome His Excellency Franco Frattini, the Italian Foreign Minister and the distinguished guests to the grand opening. Aldar’s work with Ferrari was a

meeting of minds with a clear vision to create an experience that is unique, fun and inspirational.

This unique new attraction at the heart of Yas Island is creating excitement, not just here in Abu Dhabi, but around the world. With more than 500 million people watching the final race in this year’s Formula 1 season only three weeks ago, the eyes of the world will instantly recognize this amazing structure.

Yas Island is an integral part of the government’s ambitious strategy to develop tourism in the Emirate. We are extremely proud at Aldar to be able to contribute to this strong vision through our development work here, and across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”

Luca di Montezemolo, Chairman of Ferrari:

“I would like to thank all those who made this dream a reality, and in particular our partners and the leadership of Abu Dhabi. The park just 4 years ago was a project, an idea, maybe even a too ambitious idea, and it is now a fantastic reality.

We are very proud of our partners Aldar who share with Ferrari the same passion, the same vision, the same will to go beyond. This park combines innovative technology and tradition; it is dedicated not only to Ferrari fans and car enthusiastic, but to the whole family. It has the real touch of Ferrari: how things really are for us, with our exclusive GT road cars and racing cars, but also our history and our cultural background.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is a symbol, built actively on the heritage that Italy represents for the world. But I also like to think that this Ferrari Theme park can be a small contribution to reinforcing the bridge between our two cultures.”

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi – a weekend in pole position.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Dive into the deepest oceans, speed across the desert on an Arabian horse or blast through icy caves and up to the mouth of a fiery volcano, all on the chase of ‘Nello’, the star of Speed of Magic, one of many unique attractions set to open at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi on 27 October 2010.

This state of the art 4-D ride takes families on an incredible journey into fantasy environments, where they join a young boy in his adventures chasing ‘Nello’, a mischievous character who jumps out of a video game and steals the keys to his father’s Ferrari.

“Speed of Magic is possibly the most innovative interpretation of Ferrari in the world. We have put a face to the Ferrari personality – one which both children and adults can relate to,” said Andy Keeling, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Park Manager.

Throughout the ride, passengers will experience extremes of temperature, moisture, light and movement, as they interact with a variety of spectacular environments, adding a 4th dimension to the concave 3-D projection screens, designed to completely immerse the guest in the action.

“The 4-D environment in Speed of Magic generates a unique feeling and the ability to add to this by controlling the ambience means this attraction will be one of the most popular inside Ferrari World Abu Dhabi,” he added.

The character of Nello is loosely based on a very colourful personality in Ferrari’s rich history, Tazio Nuvolari, affectionately known as Il Mantovano Volante (The Flying Mantuan). Nuvolari raced for Ferrari in the 1930s, and it was his unique story that inspired Ferrari World Abu Dhabi to create this exceptional ride.

Children to Learn First Driving Skills at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

They will have to maneuver around the track and make the most of their chance to take on chicanes before crossing the checkered flag.

Andy Keeling, Park Manager, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi said: “The Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Driving School is a new concept we have developed for our younger audience, where they can learn the basics of road safety and driving etiquette in a thrilling environment.
